Long Week!

This past week seemed very long, but at the same time was pretty uneventful.
Summer programs at the YMCA are starting to wind down, so I don't have quite as many hours. Kind of a bummer, but I guess my boss will have lots of computer work in the next month to get ready for fall! I like that, then I can do some work at home too!

Alexa decided she wanted to climb up some steps on Monday. I was excited, but at the same time kind of sad that my little girl is growing up so fast! I'm over it now though and am encouraging her almost daily. We have even started to go down with lots of help from me! She still wants to go up even though I'm trying to show her how to go down!

Not much else going on right now. Kyle is busy with work and riding his bike to train for the races in Sept. We have one EVERY weekend!! Hopefully it will be cooler so Alexa can enjoy them too.

Take Care everyone!

Long Ride

Wow! Yesterday I participated in the cycle for sight ride in Ankeny. It was a fun ride and thanks to Julie Goodman for hanging with me even when I was running out of steam!

We started at 8:00am and headed north out of Ankeny. We passed through Sheldahl and Slater and met Kyle and Taylor on their way back from Ames. Kyle joined Julie and I for the rest of the ride to Ledges State Park. Once at the park we took a break and then headed back. Kyle took off to get some more training in and Julie and I just cruised along at a nice steady pace so we could make it back. Once we were about 3 miles out of Slater I started losing steam. The route was only supposed to be 50 miles and at this point we had 52 in! Once to Slater we stopped at the rest area and I had to call it a day. I called Kyle and he was still heading towards Ankeny. He was a great husband and got the Mountaineer and came to pick me up. I'm kind of disappointed I didn't get the whole ride in, but happy that I made my goal of riding 50 miles!! Kyle was king rider of the day and with his trip to Ames with Taylor and then riding with me, he estimates he got about 120 miles in!!

Also a big thanks to cousin Paula for taking care of Alexa while we were out on our ride!
